Costa Rica, the facts

  • When parking on the street, doesn’t matter which way your car faces.
  • There is no such thing as free street parking. A “watchie” will come by and ask for a money before you leave (s/he often wears a reflective yellow vest). A couple hundred colones will do. Not sure what happens if you don’t pay, but is it worth the risk to your car as you drive away?
  • Soccer is a everywhere, all the time. 10 AM or 10 PM, rain or shine, there is a neighborhood match outside.
  • The water from the faucet is completely potable.
  • The plumbing in Costa Rica cannot handle toilet paper, so you’ve got to throw it away in the garbage.
  • Some markets will ask you to check in large bags or purses as an anti-theft measure.
  • It will rain, even during the dry season.
  • Sometimes the rain feels more like a constant mist that somehow still leaves you soaked.
  • Imperial = national beer. Tastes sorta like a Coors Light.rainbow-col2
  • No need to tip at restaurants or bars.
  • The trains start running at 4:30 AM and honk incessantly to warn crossing traffic and pedestrians. There are no gates, no warning bell outside of these, so honking for 30 seconds straight proves the most effective safety measure. Go to bed early.train

Haha funny list of facts. The pic of Jon is great – wet and not enjoying that beer. I mean its seems hard to enjoy a beer that tastes like Coors light!

    • Thanks! Haha, yep – his thought exactly!
