Burrito Quotas and Memory Sticks

BEST Ginger Lemonade

I’d estimate Jon has an average of at least 8 burritos a month back at home. So far, we’re at 2 in the past 3 weeks, one of those being today’s lunch at Tacontento, the Mexican restaurant just a few blocks over.

It was the first time I’d seen airplane style service buttons at each table. We sat ourselves, received menus, and pressed the button for the server to come take our order when we were ready. After the food came, we ate with no other server interaction until we pressed the button for the bill. I guess it was a good way to ensure service when tips aren’t a thing here.

Best part of lunch, aside from the ginger lemonade, was watching the first half of a soccer game while we ate. Roma v. Real Madrid, Real Madrid having Christian Ronaldo on it and Zinedine Zidane as a manager. As I barely know a handful of soccer stars, seeing 2 names/faces I’m actually familiar with made the game more exciting for me. Throughout the first half servers and random passersby would stop and stare at the TVs for significant time, standing to watch. Even when you thought everyone was all about their meal, a roar of excitement would rush through the room for every shot attempt much more than I can say for any response to a midday sports game at a non-sports bar in the US.

On the way to lunch, we stopped by an electronics store for a USB for Jon to partition his laptop drive on. The experience of buying a USB drive at Cococo was far different than any electronics shop experience we’d had in the US, where they’re next to cash register stands.

We had to place an order in one room, exit into the main room to pay at the register, and take a stamped/signed receipt to another area to pick up the product—a 32GB Kingston flash drive. 3 separate transactions with 3 people at different desks. It cost twice as much as it would have in the US (according to Amazon.com), but better that then have to deal with international shipping. At least we didn’t need a new laptop or phone!Cococo

Love the idea of not being bother by the waiter. Now the spice salsas I could not enjoy glad you did and such variety 🙂
