Argentina won 2-1 last night, although Chile made the first goal.
We had a delicious few drinks at the local pub, Dublin’s (yes, that’s right, we went to an Irish pub in Chile), and learned the Chilean chant:
C-H-I chi
L-E le
chi chi chi
le le le
Viva Chile!
As exciting as the game was, with the whole bar gasping and groaning at each play, the aftermath was the best part. Walking through Bellavista toward our apartment, you could hear drums that were playing on the street corner, beating along to some salsa music. The whole street was dancing (I even saw the guy dressed up in the Iron Man suit shake it!). Just a few minutes later the drums made their way to the middle of the road, where they started a samba beat and a dance party that blocked the street.
A car with carabineros (cops) came was at the front of the line of cars that couldn’t move. As the dancers made their way to the car, aggressively, until the carabinero made a quick and dirty 3-point turn in the other direction. It sat instead at the intersection and closed the street off to other cars (the other cars were slowly let through, but not without some jumping on the hoods).

Someone in a thick accent said to a nearby white girl, “This is when we lose. Imagine when we win!”
The impromptu party sounds fun. The enpanada looks delicious (did you invite the village for dinner 1 kilo) I bet it was tasty
