Buenos Aires Tea Time

Tea time to share at a nearby Cafe Martinez. It came with:

  • 2 coffees: small cups of espresso, really. Every time we’ve ordered coffee, it comes with a small glass of water and a miniature cookie, biscotti, or some sort of sweet. Everything in proportion to the espresso it seems; here they were 2 less-than-quarter-sized chocolate chip cookies, prepackaged.
  • Sandwich de miga: crustless and flat Argentinian style, often cut diagonally in cafes. Ham and cheese is the most common and what we got here.
  • Budín: Slice of pound cake, chocolate and vanilla in this case
  • Apple crumble: So sweet, it tasted sorta like bites of sugar and custard interspersed with cooked slices of tart apples.tea time

It was a very sweet experience altogether, I think I prefer Chilean onces.

Sounds like you are just sweet and do not need any more sugar.
But seriously I love to try both tea times. Both sounds delicious

I was told this is an Italian custom (having water on the side with your coffee )

      • Very cool! Thanks for the insight.

Thanks for allowing me to be the fly on the wall along on the dining customs. Sam and Eve!
