A new attraction in Lima next to the national stadium is the Guinness World Record holder for largest fountain complex in the world. The Circuito Mágico del Agua, consists of 13 distinct fountains, many of which are interactive.
It’s a lovely and new park full of beautiful fountains with colored lights at night that are constantly changing. We saw several girls dressed up for quinceañera photo shoots (can sorta see a pink fluffy dress in the cover photo). It costs 4 soles to enter, a trivial amount compared to the cost for maintenance required by all the water features and park security/information throughout the park.
My favorite fountain in the park had to be the labyrinth. Fountains spewed from the ground in a circular labyrinth, with the height of the water changing at random. To walk to the middle you’d take the chance of getting wet with an unexpected surge of water. Fun!
Video: Labyrinth fountain in action.
There’s also a pretty neat tunnel made of water. You don’t get wet walking through it, just watch out for puddles.
In the evenings they have a show around Fantasia Fountain, the main series of fountains. It was pretty cool to see images projected onto a wall of mist/spray as well as the dancing lights/water set to music. The video took us on a tour of well-known landmarks in Peru, including Maccu Picchu, the Nazca Lines, and sites in Lima like Huaca Pucllana or Plaza de Armas.
Love fountains! These are so beautiful wth all the light accents!
I’m calling the Labyrinth fountain the “Double Dutch” fountain.
PS: that looked like so much fun! I was laughing so hard watching strangers and you included, trying to get through without getting wet!
It was the best display! And we think it was being controlled by a real person (because s/he was trolling us all)
